Autumn – cleansing the lungs

After summer, Autumn is a time to clear excess heat from the body. It is a time of dryness and winds that, according to TCM, affects the lungs and skin. Heat and dryness get caught in the lungs and cause coughs, disturb the liver and exacerbate emotional excess.
Cooked apples, pears, peaches, citrus fruits, mushrooms, carrots, pumpkin, cabbage, bok choy and cauliflower help to cool and clear the lungs. Avoid cold drinks and raw or cold food during Autumn.
Good health in Autumn sets up good health in winter and spring. It’s a time for steaming foods, cooking at low temperatures for longer periods of time. Heavy foods such as stews and soups will help build energy reserves for the colder winter months.
If you would like to cleanse the lungs we sell an effective herbal formula known to support respiratory health, as well as, to help flush heat from the body.
