Attention: Coffee drinkers…
I am posting this on behalf of ‘wakeupsydney‘ - a fabulous website dedicated to kindness!
We don’t have a ‘wake up melbourne’ YET….but I thought we could all learn from what they are doing to make the world a better place. For those of you who reside in Sydney…you might be interested to attend.
An email from Jono:
I thought you would enjoy a short film we just made for NSW Fair Trade Fortnight (2nd – 17th May).
As you probably already know, Fair Trade is about using your purchasing power to ensure farmers around the world get paid a fair wage. Apparently, Sydneysiders drink over 1,000,000 cups of coffee a day! My question is “How many lives would be impacted if all Sydneysiders decided to drink only Fair Trade coffee?”
At another level, buying Fair Trade feels like a beautiful and practical way to remember our deep interconnection and shared responsibility for each other and our shared world. Perhaps choosing what coffee or chocolate to consume is one of the most convenient (and delicious!) ways to active the force of kindness?

Our goal is to have 1000’s of Sydneysiders watch this film during fair trade fortnight. If you feel inclined, please email this to all your friends and contacts.
On behalf of NSW Fair Trade, you are also warmly invited to the Fair Trade Fiesta - An evening of delicious food from Kylie Kwong, 100’s of fair trade products, a coffee showcase, wine sampling and world music. $15 includes all food, wine and entertainment.
